How often do I need to change my filter?
Presidential Heating & Air Conditioning recommends every
four to six weeks. Check your filter after four weeks to see if
it is dirty. If not, then wait and change it at five to six weeks.
Do not wait any longer than six weeks.
When is a good time to have my system checked?
We recommend checking your air conditioning and heating system before
each season, ie, in the spring and in the fall.
What can I do to increase my systems efficiency?
We recomend keeping filters clean. Keep leaves and debris from around
the outside unit. Wash coils every two to three months. Install
a programmable set-back thermostat. If you have a heat pump, the
settng should be set at one setting and remain at that setting.
Can changing my existing system save me money?
An older furnace is only 60% to 70% efficient. The newer units are
80% to 94% efficient.
Most older air conditioning units are 5 to 6 S.E.E.R. (Seasonal
Energy Efficiency Ratio). New models will run 13, 14, 15, 17, 21
S.E.E.R. The higher the rating, the less electricity your unit will
use. Each household usage is different. Some homeowners see savings
of 30-40% per year.
When are the best times to purchase a new
system?
Presidential doesn't raise its prices during peak times. But in
the Spring and Fall, the manufacturers often have specials on humidifiers,
air cleaners, and thermostats, as well as financing packages. Call
us for more details about these specials or check our "Specials"
page for current items.
What can I do to improve indoor air quality?
Presidential recommends air cleaners to remove & kill airborne
germs & allergies and ultraviolet germicidal lights to reduce
the amount of pollutants, such as molds and bacteria growing on
your indoor coil.
What is the new 13 S.E.E.R. changes as of
January 2006?
Manufacturers can only produce 13 S.E.E.R. (Seasonal Energy Efficiency
Ratio) units.
